Desktop Memory Upgrade

Desktop Memory Upgrade Problem.?

I just went and bought a new memory stick for my computer, but when I put it in my monitor would not come on. The memory stick that originally game with the computer is DDR2 PC-4200 and the one I bought was Kingston DDR2 PC-5300, but it said compatible with DDR2 PC-4200. What could be the problem.

It is compatible. But may be unserviceable . without checking in other system you can not assure that is 100% serviceable it may be new  but, it may be damaged during transportation or handling when fixing . so try in other system
